S2E33: The Sober Witch Who Built a Recovery Movement for Everyone

In this episode of Without a Candle, Karlie chats with Sunshine, also known as the Pink Haired Sober Witch, to talk about healing, recovery, and creating spiritual community for witches in recovery. Sunshine shares the story behind the Sovereign Phoenix, a religious nonprofit built to support people navigating sobriety through witchcraft, shadow work, and trauma-informed community care.

We discuss why “recovery” can mean so much more than alcohol or drugs, how behavior, trauma, and self-abandonment can shape the healing journey, and why it matters to create spaces where people can show up exactly as they are. Sunshine also opens up about her books, her one-on-one client work, and the growing network of weekly circles, retreats, and memberships that are helping people feel seen, supported, and spiritually grounded.

If you’re interested in sobriety, spirituality, alternative healing, and inclusive community spaces, this conversation is full of insight, encouragement, and inspiration.
